CURRENT PROJECTS
Solid Waste Management Program
In July 2008 CRCOG first communicated with the 70 Mid-Connecticut Project towns about regional solutions to solid waste management. With the Mid-Connecticut Solid Waste agreement set to expire in 2012, CRCOG believes the 70 participating Mid-Conn municipalities may be able to achieve significant cost savings and other benefits by working together to forge a new regional approach to solid waste management. Click here for more information on this program.
Performance Measurement
The Municipal Services Committee has discussed the subject of Performance Measurement and decided to provide information resources to interested municipalities, rather than create a comprehensive performance measurement program at this time. Below are several documents regarding performance measurement. Please contact Jennifer March-Wackers (jwackers@crcog.org) for further assistance.
Sample measures include the areas of: Human Resources, Public Works, Fire, Planning, Emergency Management Services, Economic Development and Finance.
Performance Measurement Software
Many of you are already familiar with the G-TRACS© software that is being offered at no-cost to CRCOG members. To view a demo of the software visit the Intellect Government Systems website at www.intellectgovernmentsystems.com and then click on the “Product” tab, followed by “Take A Tour”.
If your town is interested in using the software please contact Stuart Grifel, Managing Partner, at stuartgrifel@intellectgovernmentsystems.com or call 561-400-7218.

CRCOG BENCHMARKING STUDIES
Vehicle Maintenance Operations Study
Vehicle Maintenance Operations were evaluated in 22 communities in the capitol region. A findings forum was held from which a users group was formed to meet periodically. This group encourages the ongoing exchange of information and expertise across communities. Click here to download the study document.
Snow and Ice Study
The previous benchmarking project was a Snow and Ice Study. If you are interested in learning about average per resident and per mile costs, competing labor rates, material ratios, equipment deployment strategies and operational policies that govern individual department responses: Click here to download study documentation.
Non-Tax Revenue Source Study: Discover Untapped Revenue Sources!
CRCOG is pleased to announce the availability of its regional study concerning the use of non-tax revenue by local governments to offset departmental operating expenses. The results of this research effort are published as a compendium of comparative data that: highlights the vast differences in charging schedules employed by the 29 communities surveyed; identifies new sources of revenue in use by some communities; and confirms the prescriptive, yet permissive nature of the Connecticut General Statues should municipalities look to update their non-tax revenue schedules. The information from this study is available on our Publications page. Click here to download your free copy today. |
