Principal Planner and Policy Analyst
Emily Hultquist is a Principal Planner and Policy Analyst at the Capitol Region Council of Governments. She is a member of the Policy and Planning Department and serves as the lead staff member on the Sustainable Capitol Region Initiative. Ms. Hultquist also works on transit-oriented development, co-leads the agency’s complete streets planning efforts and manages transportation corridor studies. She has 12 years of professional experience in land use, transportation planning and urban design in Connecticut. Previously, she held a position as Associate Planner in the Connecticut office of the Regional Plan Association, the nation’s oldest and most distinguished urban planning policy and advocacy group. Ms. Hultquist is Immediate Past President of the Connecticut Chapter of the American Planning Association and has participated on the Statewide Steering Committee of Young Energetic Solutions as well as the Board of Chrysalis Center, Inc. She holds an A.B. in Growth and Structure of Cities from Bryn Mawr College and a Masters in City and Regional Planning from the University of Pennsylvania.
Ms. Hultquist was born and raised in the Capitol Region and currently lives in West Hartford with her husband Drew and 9 month old son, Nigel. While her family currently occupies most of her time away from her professional life, she also enjoys photography and snowboarding.
