PUTNAM BRIDGE - PROPOSED REPAIRS

The Connecticut Department of Transportation has proposed repairs to the Putnam Bridge over the CT River.  Latest information about closures and detours.

Here is a presentation regarding ConnDOT's plans that was given at public information meeting in August:   Presentation re: State Project No. 53-179

and ConnDOT's project summary:

Project  No. 53-179
Towns of Glastonbury and Wethersfield

PUTNAM BRIDGE
(Route 3 over Connecticut River)
Bridge Deck Repair and Resurfacing
including weekend roadway directional closures

The Department of Transportation plans to patch and resurface the Putnam Bridge between the months of April and July 2008.

The work is anticipated to be performed over ten weekends.   Weekend directional closures of the bridge roadway are planned for the performance of extensive concrete bridge deck repairs and resurfacing. It is anticipated both bridge northbound and southbound roadways will require five weekend closures to complete the required work.  During each weekend roadway directional closure, travel in the opposing direction will remain unrestricted.  Local access to and from Route 3 in Glastonbury and Wethersfield will be maintained during all weekend construction work.  Proposed detour plans may be viewed through these links:
