Connecticut Daily Travel Survey

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is conducting the Connecticut Daily Travel Survey to better understand the transportation needs of Connecticut residents. Thousands of residents in the state will receive invitations to participate in this voluntary transportation survey. The purpose of the travel survey is to provide CTDOT with a sufficient sample of resident travel patterns, including out of State travel to/from Connecticut. Invitations were sent out in August 2024. Data collection will begin in September 2024 and will run through December 2024.

The survey asks about daily transportation habits.

  • How do you travel?
  • How far do you go?
  • How much does it cost?

CTDOT’s goal is to get a complete picture of regional transportation patterns to better plan for future improvements.

Taking part helps CTDOT understand how local roads, highways, public transportation, bike lanes, and sidewalks are used today, and how they can be improved to make travel better in the future. Participation in the survey will help answer questions about how the state can maintain and improve mobility, accessibility, and connectivity for residents as the population grows, new travel choices emerge, and travel patterns evolve. The information collected will be vital for planning and prioritizing future transportation improvements.
