Terri Thompson is the Principal Planner in the Department of Transportation.  She is responsible for the Traffic Incident Management Program and is also assigned as chair of the Regional Emergency Support Function (RESF) 1 – Transportation in the Capitol Region and her focus is on road safety initiatives.  She currently is the Chair of the Greater Hartford Traffic Incident Management Coalition, a member of the Strategic Highway Safety Plan emphasis area and steering committees, Co-chair of the Vision Zero Council Enforcement Subcommittee, member of the Work Zone Safety Awareness Campaign, the Slow Down Move Over campaign, and the Watch For Me CT awareness campaign.   Making roads safer for all is her priority.

Terri has been employed with CRCOG since November 2016.

Prior to working for CRCOG, Terri was employed with the Connecticut Department of Transportation for 37 years and was a Supervising Engineer in the Office of Construction under the Bureau of Engineering and Construction.  Terri was also the Chair of the CT Work Zone Safety Awareness Campaign and administered the Work Zone Safety program for the Department.  She was awarded the Government Engineer of the Year Award by the American Council of Engineering Companies and also received the Employee of the Year Award by the Department along with a Teamwork award for role in the I-84 Southington Accelerated Bridge Construction Project.

Terri has one daughter and resides in Waterbury, CT.  She was originally from Wisconsin and her love of the Green Bay Packers is well known in the office as well as her love of plants.

Terri is involved with several organizations: the American Red Cross as a Disaster Responder and Home Fire Campaign lead, volunteer at the Waterbury Palace Theater , and is a Lifetime member of the Girls Scouts.
