At the February 22 meeting of the Capitol Region Council of Governments Transportation Committee, we presented a map that was developed as part of the 2008 CRCOG Pedestrian and Bicycle Plan. That map “identifies the on road network, those roads that are needed to provide effective linkage for bicyclists between towns and to commercial locations within towns”. CRCOG has initiated a process to update this map to reflect the significant progress that has been achieved since 2008, and to integrate the nine municipalities that have since joined the region. Not only will this updated map inform CRCOG’s planning efforts, but it will also be used by the Connecticut Department of Transportation in their update of the Statewide Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan.
