Sonya Carrizales earned a B.A. in Environmental Studies with a minor in Law, Public Policy, and Human Rights from Mount Holyoke College. She is eager to examine crucial intersections between environmental justice, affordable housing, and sustainable development as an Environmental Planner. Aiming to uplift participatory planning approaches and center community engagement in her work, Sonya looks forward to collaborating with Capitol Region municipalities and community members to co-produce equitable, place-based initiatives.
Originally from Colorado and Wyoming, Sonya enjoys being outdoors, writing songs, and playing board games in her spare time. She lives in Bristol after recently moving from the Berkshires and plans to visit local parks and cafes during weekends.
